Florida Activist Receives Constitutional Protection Award

Parrott wins award

Charles W. Parrott, III of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, has been named the 1997 recipient of the prestigious Doc Swanson Award by the Association of Dentists for Accuracy in Scientific Media (ADASM). The Doc Swanson Award honors the memory of Dr. Emmet O. Swanson, past president of the National Rifle Association and a member of the U.S. Olympic Shooting Team.

Parrott, a former Marine and Korean veteran who served in Japan after the Korean cease fire. Following his military service, Parrott learned to fly, and entered the field of avionics in 1960. He currently works for Superior Avionics as a bench technician, and repairs flight navigation equipment.

The Doc Swanson Award was created by ADASM to recognize people at the grassroots level, who give of their time to safeguard the Constitution, and in particular, the Second Amendment of the Bill of Rights. Parrott qualified for the Doc Swanson Award by his devotion to truth and fact, in an atmosphere that readily sacrifices those values for the sake of "political-correctness."

Parrott has also been actively involved in educating neighbors about safe firearm-handling techniques, through practical, hands-on training. He has given equal attention to the political aspects of firearm ownership in America, countering misinformation and disinformation about firearms and violent crime, and about the historical development of the Second Amendment as an integral part of the Bill of Rights.

Parrott successfully capitalized on the opportunities afforded by talk-radio as a vehicle for doing this. He has also authored several articles on this topic, which have been printed in publications having nationwide circulation.

Charles Parrott exemplifies our Founding Fathers' expectation of active citizen participation in our representative republic, for the betterment of all. His hard work on behalf of our Second Amendment is exemplary of Doc Swanson recipients.
