Dear Charlie,

Well, I told you that I would write with my "review" of the holster after I had worn it for a few days. I've got to say that this thing is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I must admit that I had found it hard to believe that the Smart Carry could really make it possible to conceal anything bigger than a pocket pistol (I originally ordered it to carry my Sigma .380), but after starting with the .380 and finding that to be totally comfortable and concealable, I am now carrying my Glock 27 in it most of the time and have even found that with loose jeans I could carry my Glock 22 duty weapon in it except for the fact that the medium holster that I ordered is not really sized for the full-size Glock. At any rate, you make a fine product and I would encourage anyone who is considering a Smart Carry to order one YESTERDAY! You won't be sorry!

Thanks again Charlie for making a great product! I'm going to wear it everyday while off duty (I have so far!) and when I wear it out someday I'll call you again!

Sincerely,

Sgt. M. E.

Charlie:

I am Xxxxxx Xxxxxx by birth, but have been Xxxx since I was a kid. Checks, credit cards, etc all say Xxxxx, but nobody calls me that unless I'm in trouble. Thanks for your concern on the holster, I'll send the defective one back as soon as I get your package.

A funny story-- I was in the Seattle area this weekend, and while my other half went to a baby shower, I went to a nice gun shop / range in the area to kill some time. This place has about 50 shooting lanes, runs defense and shooting classes round the clock, and probably sells or rents any gun you'd want. I hadn't planned on going to the range, so the only gun I had with me was the Glock 23 I was carrying. I had no shooting bag or anything, so I just left it in the Smartcarry.

I went to the counter to check out a shooting lane, and the guy there asked what I wanted to rent. I smiled. Keep in mind that this is a guy that teaches a defensive pistol class, sees a lot of 'concealed' weapons come in and out of the shop, etc. He had no idea. I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt. Just for fun, I lifted my untucked shirt and spun around. He gave up. He didn't believe I was carrying what I said until I walked to my shooting position and pulled it out. Would have done it in the showroom, but for obvious reasons that's a no-no. After I finished shooting, him and a couple of the other guys there were real interested. Hopefully that's more sales for you. My secretary (who happens to be an ex Marine) never noticed the new holster either. She asked me this morning why I wasn't carrying my Glock (she was used to seeing me take it out to sit at my desk). She couldn't believe it either.

Thanks again for a great product and your excellent service.

Charlie:

Let me start with the [minor] bad news--

1) I think my holster snuck through quality control- at the end of one strap, the Velcro ('hook' side) isn't stitched on. The stitching is there, but missed it at the end. The side stitching is fine. I don't anticipate a problem, and so far it is fine. I assume that if there is a problem that I can't fix with needle and thread you would accept it back for repairs.

2) There is a custom holster maker that I had been talking about a custom IWB holster with that just lost a sale.

I am completely amazed at how comfortable and utterly ingenious the Smartcarry is. I have been wearing it since I opened the package, with my Glock 23 and a spare hi-cap mag securely inside. I got it at the office, and while changing to go to the gym, I put some light weight nylon gym shorts on over it. INVISIBLE. I didn't wear it to the gym (yet), but when I got home, I showered and sat around all night with it on, under several sets of clothes (trying it out). I don't have one pair of pants this won't work with. It will work with 90% of my shorts, and most of my jeans. I practiced drawing the gun, and with my belt a little looser than normal (it can be loose now, it's not holding up my gun anymore), I got pretty good. A seated draw takes a little more work, but that is due to my belly- more time at the gym and that should be fixed. I threw a couple loops of high-strength thread (for canvas covers) through the mag pouch to set my reload at the right height- works like a charm.

You have a ton of letters on your testimonials page, and I wish I had something new to say, or a better way to say it, but they are all right. Feel free to add this message to the list. This thing works as advertised, it is well made, and the most comfortable, concealable method of carry I have found.

People, if you are thinking about buying one, DO IT. A custom IWB rig is $80-100 for starters. Off the shelf is still as much as the Smartcarry, your gun is not hidden all the time, without a jacket, in summer shorts and t-shirts, in sweatpants, gym clothes or your best dress slacks. The Smartcarry works, works, works.

I have to be honest, when I bought the holster, I didn't believe it would work as advertised. I couldn't believe it would be comfortable, and I thought it would be impossible to get to my gun. I was wrong on all counts. While the Smartcarry isn't going to set any speed records, if you are in a " high threat" situation it is really easy to slide the butt of gun up above your belt and have it still be very secure. With Sweatpants or something else with an elastic waistband, I doubt that I would be much slower than with a conventional IWB on my hip, which is to say plenty fast.

Thanks again for a great product.

M. K. - Kennewick, WA

Webmaster's note: We've sent M a warranty replacement SmartCarryTM due to the stitches not going through the Velcro® - can't take a chance that the Velcro® will pull loose from the elastic! When he receives it, he will put the original in the enclosed SASE and return it to us. In the interim, he still has the use of his SmartCarryTM!

Charlie,

Take a look at what I posted in the rec.guns newgroup on the internet regarding SmartCarry (reproduced below).

When I spoke to you on the phone last week you told me about the lack of downward facing seams in Smart Carry. I think you should also emphasize to potential customers the stiffness of the denim, which aids in a fast draw, and the toughness of the material.

Thank for a great product.

Also thought you might get a kick out of my website: "http://dencity.com/iamunarmed"

hi charlie,

OK, it's been a few days and i have forgotten twice that my colt mustang was under my jeans. i'm a little overweight....by 25 lbs and i am still amazed at the comfort. i sit at a computor terminal, type on a typewriter and run up and down ship's gangways during the day and give flying lessons on the weekends and evenings. great product. the guys and my office freaked when i showed up w/o my fanny-pak and no evidence of carrying.

Next week i will try the colt defender in the bigger size for a week and see what's up.

Later and thanks.

God bless America and Americans!!!

So simple yet so smart!!!

Charlie,

I've now had my Smartcarry for about two years. It's still in great shape. I can't tell you how happy that I let you talk me into the Smartcarry. I have a Walther P99 .40. I usually wear mine a little differently than in the front. I actually turn it 90 degrees so it is off of my right hip for a right hand draw. I wear it so the butt of my gun actually is above my belt. I either wear an un-tucked shirt or tuck the shirt tight 2 / 3 of the way around then lightly tuck on the right side to I can get the shirt out of the way without catching on the pistol butt.

I have probably spent $150 on holsters for this pistol alone (I hope my wife doesn't read this) and I keep coming back to my Smartcarry. It is by far the most comfortable holster I own. Best yet, it is the most concealable, no clip showing around my belt, no straps showing around my chest, no bulges in my lower middle back, etc. I don't feel like I have to keep glancing down to check things. My wife and kids rarely know if I am carrying or not.

Unmatchable! Nice work.

Charlie,

Well, I've been using the SmartCarry holster for about a week now. When I first recieved it, I spent the first hour or so trying on my entire wardrobe to see how it would fit. What a great product !! No matter what I tried on, my suits, slacks, shorts, bathing trunks, there was no way anyone would be ale to tell I was carrying a concealed weapon. I've gone to meetings at work, out to lunch and dinner with no problems. My family and co-workers have never noticed a thing.

Construction of the holster is superb. The size was perfect and I really do tend to not notice I am carrying throughout the day.

60 day trial period? fuggedaboudit, all I needed was 1 day to know this is the only way to carry a concealed weapon.

I have since recommended your product to a co-worker that is interested in CCW and I will not hesitate to reommend this product to anyone who is looking for a safe and easy way to carry concealed.

Thanks again Charlie for a great product.

Charlie,

Just wanted to drop a line. I've been wearing the Smart Carry and I like it. It works great for concealment, but does take a little getting use to. I think over a period of time the Smart Carry will feel just like a part of me, like jewelry does after wearing it a while. Thanks again. I will be showing this to my LEO partners. Take care and I will talk to you later.

Charlie,

Just wanted to send you a quick note thanking you for your prompt service for both of my SmartCarry's. I originally purchased one for my PT-140 and then bought another one for my USP40c. I think they are great. Your system is by far the most comfortable method I have found to carry; especially while wearing shorts, sandals, etc. Once again, thanks for the prompt service and the high quality product. God Bless America

Dear Charlie:

I received my Smart Carry holster for my Glock 23 and I absolutely love it! I had my doubts whether it would both conceal my Glock fully and be comfortable enough to use regularly, but I, too, am now a converted believer in your holster. Thanks for creating such a great product!

I do have one question, though. After wearing it this past weekend, I've noticed that the edges of the elastic straps are just a little wavy, looking like they could wear out soon. Is this normal to occur after wearing for a couple of days? I'm not worried about it now, but am wondering if it the straps will come apart in the near future. I've read in some of your messages on your comments section that users should wear it pretty snug, which I did. It wasn't so tight as to be uncomfortable, though.

Could it be that I'm wearing it too snug? Also, I was wondering, if I do wear out the elastic straps, could I send it back in to have the straps replaced?

Thanks so much,

J. B. - Brentwood, TN

Webmaster note: We advised J. B. that the "wrinkling" of the elastic was perfectly normal and that it would also stretch slightly over time, neither of which is a problem. The elastic still retains it elasticity and strength and the answer to J.'s question, which we forgot to answer in our e-mail to him, is yes, if you ever wear the elastic out (which won't happen, the holster will wear out first), we'll replace it for you. And the tighter you wear SmartCarry®, the more comfortable it is. This does not contribute to undue wear on the elastic. J. replied with the following e-mail (the header has been left off):

Charlie,

Very good then. Thank you for your quick response. Your reputation as I've seen on the internet for innovative, high quality products and excellent customer service are very well deserved. The holster was a birthday gift from my wife (although I "helped" her in picking it out), and it made for an excellent birthday. If I can ever be of assistance as a referral, please let me know. I've already posted my happiness with your holster on my favorite CCW forum.

Best regards,

J.

I purchased a SmartCarry holster in West Palm Beach in 2001. The first day I wore it for 9 hours. No pain, and no adjusting. As a plain clothes and undercover deputy I have had every kind of "concealable" holster made. None do the job my SmartCarry does. The other holsters are all sitting in a box gathering dust.

Thanks for a great product.

Hey Charlie!

The ultimate skeptic has now spoken! I am the one who kept asking for all the negative feedback thinking nothing could be that perfect. Well, I was wrong! I put on my holster, holstered my gun just like I would carry in public and walked up to my mother and said, "Well, what do you think?" After looking at me from head to toe her response was, "About what?" I told her I was carrying concealed and raised my shirt to show her and her eyes got as big as golfballs!

I told my dad I had something to show him. I did the same thing and he had no clue, and I even saw him look in the area the gun was! He never saw a thing! His eyes also got big when I raised my shirt and had my little .380 sitting there! Since I have a small torso, I don't think I could carry a concealed weapon much bigger than my little Firestorm anywhere on my body, in any type of holster, so this one does the best it can given the small space my small torso allows. Great product bud!!!!

One more thing Charlie......you shipped it on Monday, and it was waiting in my mailbox Wednesday morning! Great service!!! Florida to Louisiana in 3 days, I sure wish UPS could match that!

Charlie,

I saw your product at a gun show in Lakeland on August 4, and then I was skeptical of the smart carry. Well, I ordered one about a week later. You were right, it is the only concealable holster that you can wear anything with and still carry your full-size handgun. I carry a Glock 17 and a Beretta 96, both which are full-size handguns and I am able to move freely and comfortably. I even wore the smart carry to work for 10 hours and was impressed how comfortable it was. I have recommended the smart carry to my friends who carry and I am even considering buying one for my wife. Nobody can even tell that I am carrying. I am a very skinny guy about 5'11'', 150lbs and I used to carry my gun in a inside-the-pants holster, what a bunch of crap. It always used to fall out and it was very noticeable when you are in public, then I started to carry a waist pack with the firearm pouch, that got to be too inconvenient. Thanks for the great product.

Hello, I am Axxxxxx dxx Rxxxxxx, I have problems with my ordinary e-mail "xxxxxx@wanadoo.es" and I answer you for hotmail that is as only I can. Received shipment #4101. Today Tuesday morning, 14th august, the holster has just arrived me. I am very happy with the product and it has arrived under perfect conditions. I will already write him having him my experience my holster.

Thank you for everything, I send you a cordial greeting and a hug.

Webmaster's note: While the above is not exactly a testimonial for SmartCarry®, we've put it here because A. R. e-mailed us with some questions prior to placing his order using our website secure order form. In his first e-mail, he apologized for his poor English, as he's just learning the language. He's a police officer in Spain and to identify himself as an LEO, A. R. sent us a jpg graphic of himself in uniform. I printed it out and showed it to Carolyn and daughter Christy, and their first comment was, "Tell him if he's ever in the U.S. to stop by for a visit!" Through an error on our part, it was sent on Aug. 6 by first class mail instead of Global Priority (we refunded the difference to his cc) and it arrived in only 8 days. A. R. will be carrying a S&W 5904 in his SmartCarryTM concealed carry holster. The 4104 he mentioned was the shipping invoice # for his order. Like it says somewhere on the website, we've shipped SmartCarry®'s all over the globe!

Charlie,

I've attached a photo taken of me and Texas Governor Rick Perry at the 2001 Aggie Muster ceremony in Dallas. I was invited to sing with a group of Former Singing Cadets there, and we had some photo ops after the ceremony. I'm generally not one to take part in that sort of schmoozing, but since Rick is an Aggie, a former Yell Leader, and the Governor and all, I figured what the heck. What he didn't know, and what the Texas Rangers with him didn't know, was that they had at least one extra ally if something unthinkable was to happen. I was carrying my full-size Baby Eagle .40S&W in my SmartCarry holster (legally, of course). The concealment offered by your SmartCarry is absolutely fantastic...I wear it with slacks, blue jeans, shorts...I've even worn it under sweatpants. Perhaps you should start a "Safe Celebrities" page, where you could display photos of well-known folks who are (unwittingly or not) being protected by SmartCarry users...then again, perhaps that would be giving too much away!

Charlie,

I received my 'SmartCarry' today and my first thought was..."Why didn't I think of this?" I tried it on with bluejeans and my wife asked "Do you have it on?" It passed inspection and is very comfortable and makes my Taurus PT111 easily accessible. You've really come up with a first-rate product that I intend to recommend to all my friends who carry. Mr. Parrott,

I am a Peace Officer with the California Department of Corrections. I recently purchased a Smart Carry for my Sig P220. I purchased my Sig from a buddy and thought it would be a good weapon to conceal off-duty. However, I found it seemed too big for concealment on my person. I reviewed many different styles of holster, but found nothing that I thought would keep my gun from looking obvious. I even considered that I might have to switch to a smaller handgun. Then, I found your web-site. I even read your customer reviews, which ultimately lead me to the purchase of your Smart Carry. I am very pleased with your holster and service. I am able to conceal my Sig without any problems and I don't have to change to a more compact weapon. In addition, I told a couple work buddies about the style of holster, but they seemed skeptical about the style and location. My advice to them was if they are looking for a holster that combines comfort with little or no sign of concealment this product is what you want to buy. I can't imagine using anything else. Thanks for innovation Mr. Parrott.

Hello-

It has been several months now since getting my SmartCarry and for the most part I am thrilled. I wear it a lot as here in anti-carry Ohio as it is probably a little more discreet than my fannypak. My main concern is I am in my truck a lot driving in bad areas and it seems near impossible to draw while behind the wheel ! But for most times I think it is the best and most discreet carry method though sometimes it is uncomfortable with the gun rubbing under my slightly overweight belly while sitting especially driving.

Best of luck

J. M. in Columbus Ohio

Webmaster's note: We immediately sent J. M. an e-mail describing how you can draw while seated, and it was J. M.'s e-mail that caused us to include this in our instruction sheet. We've just added it, and you can read it on our online instruction sheet right now, and all future instruction sheets will have "drawing when seated" instructions included. Thanks, J. M!
